The Effect of Calcium Application on the Formation of Heartwood in Dalbergia odorifera
To investigate the effect of calcium application on the formation of the heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera and pro-vide a reference for the efficient cultivation of artificial forests, this study investigated 6-year-old D.odorifera plants. Two different calcium application methods, namely, the injection of CaCl2 solution and the landfill of Ca(OH)2 solid, were used to analyze the impact of various application amounts on the heartwood extract. The results showed that after injection of CaCl2 solution, the extraction rate, flavonoid content, and volatile oil content of D.odorifera heartwood significantly increased, and the effect of promoting heartwood formation decreased with increasing solution concentration. After filling with Ca(OH)2 solid, the extraction rate of D.odorifera heartwood remained unchanged, while the content of flavonoids and volatile oil compounds decreased.CaCl2 solution injection has promoted the heartwood formation well, with a suitable concentration of 2%.However,no effect on promoting heartwood formation was found in the Ca(OH)2 solid landfill.
