Effects of NAA Pretreatment on the Rooting of Bougainvillea Cuttings in Hydroculture and Substrate Culture
Using Bougainvillea peruviana'Imperial Delight'semi-woody branches as experimental materials, this study compared the effects of NAA(naphthalene acetic acid)pretreatment on the hydroponic and substrate-cutting rooting of Bou-gainvillea.The results revealed that pretreatment with 200 mg·L-1 NAA promoted the rooting of Bougainvillea via both hy-droponic and substrate-cutting methods. However,at the same NAA concentration, the rooting rate in the substrate-cutting groups was greater than that of the hydroponic groups, and the number and length of roots were also greater in the sub-strate-cutting groups.Root thickness and color have nothing to do with cutting method.A concentration of 200 mg·L-1 NAA was determined to be suitable for the propagation of B.peruviana'Imperial Delight'through stem cuttings, while further op-timization is necessary for the hydroculture.
