The Ecological Control Strategy for Cowpea Pests and Disease in the Hotspots Based on Insect-Proof Net+
Cowpea(Vigna unguiculata L.Walp.),a significant winter vegetable in Hainan,is severely damaged by pests such as thrips, leafminers, and wilt disease.Currently, pest control in Hainan's cowpea cultivation relies heavily on chemical pesti-cides,leading to rampant pest resistance enhancement, excessive pesticide residues, and loss of local biodiversity. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the current state of cowpea pests in Hainan, addressing issues such as the overuse and reliance on a single pest control method.Four main ecological control techniques are proposed:the introduction of functional plants, the optimization of landscape design, improvements in agricultural management, and the integration of biological con-trol with scientific pesticide use.Furthermore,it outlines specific implementation plans, providing scientific guidance and practical solutions for the sustainable development of cowpea cultivation in Hainan.
