Research Progress on Bulbophyllum Plants at Home and Abroad
This article reviews the research progress on Bulbophyllum in the past two decades, both domestically and interna-tionally.The results indicate that the chemical composition of Bulbophyllum includes phenanthrenes, bibenzyls, flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, and stilbenes, which confer it with various bioactivities such as anticancer,anti-inflammatory,analgesic,antimicrobial,and antioxidant properties. The secretory tissues on the lips of Bulbophyllum release chemicals such as methyl eugenol, raspberry ketone, and Zingeron to attract male fruit flies for pollination assistance.Furthermore, the Bulbophyllum from Madagascar presents distinct evolutionary traces. This review provides a theoretical foundation and prospects for the conservation, development, and utilization of the Bulbophyllum genus.
