Introduction and Selection of Fresh Ficus Carica Linn in Guangdong
To screen the high-yield and high-quality fresh Ficus carica suitable for planting in Guangdong Province,51 va-rieties were introduced and cultivated in greenhouses in Guangzhou,and their growth,yield,and fruit characteristics were compared and analyzed.The results revealed that among the 51 tested varieties,nine varieties had better comprehensive traits.Bojihong,Banana,Dauphine-Masui,Branswick,and Kadota presented strong tree adaptability,strong branching,large fruit(with a single fruit weight of approximately 57.75 g),beautiful fruit shape,and the characteristics of high fruit yield(with a plant yield of approximately 9.72 kg)and excellent quality,these five varieties are deserved to be popularized in Guangdong.Jinzao showed excellent characteristics in terms of tree adaptability and fruit yield but poor fruit quality;Israeli sprigs and Shanghaidaqingpi performed better in terms of fruit traits and quality,but the fruit yield was poor;Lvzao had better fruit traits,but the fruit yield and quality were both low.Therefore,planting and spreading these four varieties in Guangdong should be cautious.
