Physiological Response of Sisal under Cadmium Stress
Cadmium contamination of soil in China has become the focus of the society as a whole. Therefore, soil cadmium pollution control is urgently needed.Owing to its outstanding characteristics and strong tolerance to heavy metals, sisal is a potential target plant for the remediation of cadmium-contaminated soil. However, the physiological reaction response of sisal under cadmium stress remains unclear. The physiological response of sisal under cadmium stress was studied to address this problem. The results revealed that the MDA content of sisal leaves under different Cd concentrations increased significantly at various periods. The MDA content of the same treatment also increased with increasing treatment time. When sisal was sub-jected to Cd stress for a short time,a low concentration(<20 mg·kg-1)promoted the chlorophyll content of sisal, and a high concentration(≥20 mg·kg-1)was inhibitory. The chlorophyll content of sisal leaves tended to decrease with increasing time. These results provide a theoretical basis for the use of sisal to remediate cadmium-contaminated soil.
