Identification and Analysis of the NINV Gene Family in Banana
Alkaline/neutral invertase(NINV)can specifically catalyze the hydrolysis of sucrose into glucose and fructose.NINV is encoded by a gene family. All members of the NINV gene family have been identified in multiple species, but no reports of the NINV gene family have been published in bananas to date. This study identified 12 NINV genes, named MaN-INV1-12,distributed on 8 chromosomes(chr2,chr3,chr5,chr6,chr7,chr8,chr9,chr11).The lengths of the amino acid se-quence were 531-701 aa,the molecular weights were 60.62-79.22 kD,and the theoretical isoelectric points were 5.91-7.19.Evolutionary tree analysis revealed that 5 NINV genes(MaNINV1,MaNINV2,MaNINV6,MaNINV9,and MaNINV10)belong to the α subfamily and that seven NINV genes(MaNINV3,MaNINV4,MaNINV5,MaNINV7,MaNINV8,MaNINV11,and MaNINV12)belong to the β subfamily. The numbers of exons and introns of NINV gene family members were 4-8 and 3-7,respectively.The number of hormone-responsive elements was the highest, followed by light-responsive and stress-responsive elements among the cis-acting elements. There are six types of hormone-related elements, namely, abscisic acid, auxin, methyl jasmonate, gibberellin, zeatin, and salicylic acid. This study provides a preliminary basis for elucidating the relationship be-tween NINV and sucrose in the future.
