Survey of antibody levels of pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus in 287 college freshmen in Nanshan district,Shenzhen in 2021
Objective To investigate the levels of pertussis, diphtheria, and tetanus(DPT)IgG antibodies in college freshmen in Nanshan district,Shenzhen. Methods In September 2021,287 college freshmen in Nanshan district,Shenzhen were selected as the survey subjects. The serum levels of pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus IgG antibodies were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the differences in the antibody levels of college freshmen with different characteristics were compared. Results The antibody geometric mean concentrations(GMC)and positive rates of pertussis antibody in college freshmen were 14.642(13.073-16.399)IU/mL and 20.56%(59 cases),respectively. The antibody GMC,positive rate and protection rate of diphtheria in college freshmen were 0.098(0.086-0.111)IU/mL,98.95%(284 cases)and 46.69%(134 cases),respectively. The antibody GMC,positive rate and protection rate of tetanus in college freshmen were 0.121(0.106-0.139)IU/mL,100.00%(287 cases)and 54.70%(157 cases)respectively. There were not statistically significant differences in the concentration of DPT antibody among freshmen in different groups(all P>0.05).Conclusions The positive rate of pertussis antibody in college freshmen in Nanshan district of Shenzhen city was high, which suggested that the proportion of pertussis infection was high in the near future. The monitoring of pertussis in this population should be strengthened.Vaccination policies should also be implemented for the high positive rates and low protective rate of diphtheria and tetanus antibodies.
