Seasonal characteristics of influenza in Haizhu district of Guangzhou from 2013 to 2022
Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of influenza(flu)in Haizhu district,Guangzhou city,and provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of influenza.Methods The data on influenza cases in Haizhu district of Guangzhou city from 2013 to 2022 were collected through the China Disease Control and Prevention Information System,and the epidemic seasonal characteristics of influenza was analyzed by jointly applying the concentration degree,circular distribution method and seasonal index.Results The cumulative number of reported influenza cases in Haizhu district,Guangzhou city,from 2013 to 2022 was 34 433,with an average annual incidence rate of 203.98/100 000,and the highest incidence rate was in 2019(795.35/100 000),with an overall increasing trend(x2=36 936.43,P<0.001);the incidence of influenza cases was mainly concentrated in children under the age of 15(69.22%);the occupational distribution was dominated by students(29.52%),scattered children(28.25%),and children in childcare(14.44%).The concentration degree was M=0.44 and the total concentration trend of the circular distribution was γ=0.31(Z=3 392.86,P<0.001)indicating that influenza had a certain seasonal distribution.The seasonality index suggested that December to January of the following year and March to June.were the months of higher influenza incidence,and were peaked in January and June.Conclusion The influenza in Haizhu district,Guangzhou city,from 2013 to 2022 had certain seasonal characteristics,mainly focusing on the high incidence in winter and the transition season between spring and summer,and children under 15 years old were the key population for influenza prevention and control.
