Epidemiological characteristics and research progress of congenital malaria in China
Congenital malaria refers to the malaria directly infected by maternal blood in the absence of Anopheles mosquito bite infection or blood transfusion.Congenital malaria has been reported in China since 1944.Due to the atypical symptoms of this kind of disease,it is easy to delay diagnosis and misdiagnosis,which causes great harm to newborns.At present,congenital malaria cases have been reported in 15 provinces in China.This article reviews the epidemiological characteristics and research progress of congenital malaria in China,in order to provide reference for the formulation of prevention and control strategy of congenital malaria in the later period of malaria elimination in China.
