Synthesis and process optimization of high-ortho thermosetting phenolic resin
The proximity induction effect of different divalent metal ion catalysts on high-ortho phenolic resin(HOPF)was studied, and the HOPF was prepared using zinc acetate(Zn(Ac)2)as catalyst, and the structure of HOPF was characterized and analyzed. The effects of catalyst dosage, reaction time and aldehyde/phenol ratio(F/P)on the ortho/para-hydroxymethyl ratio(O/P),free aldehyde content, gel time and curing characteristics of HOPF were studied by orthogonal experiments. The results showed that the ortho-hydroxymethyl content of HOPF resin synthesized by Zn(Ac)2 was high(hydroxymethyl index was 0.47)and the curing speed was fast(gel time was 202 seconds at 150 ℃).The optimal synthesis process of HOPF was as follows:reaction time 240 min,aldehyde/phenol ratio 1.1,and catalyst dosage 3%.
