Currently,there are mainly hydraulic mechanical automatic transmissions(AT),continuously variable transmis-sions(CVT),electronically controlled mechanical automated manual transmission(AMT)and dual-clutch transmissions(DCT)on the market,which occupy a certain market share for their own characteristics respectively.The lubricants used in automatic transmissions with different structures are all special oils.So what are the main differences between them?Tak-ing the LFW-1 steel-to-steel friction characteristics test in the CVT fluid(CVTF)standards as an example,the paper ex-pounds the differences in friction properties of different oils and the reasons why different types of automatic transmission oils are not universal and interchangeable.
