Analysis of the Abnormal Color of Base Oil and Solutions
By analyzing the thermal stability of raw materials and the composition of solvents in base oil production,it was determined that the deepening of the base oil color and its reversible changes were caused by an abnormally high nitrogen mass concentration in the solvent. The possible sources of nitrogen elements in the solvent system were analyzed, and a targeted investigation of the ammonia refrigeration system was conducted. It was inferred that the high nitrogen mass con-centration in the solvent was due to internal leakage in the ammonia refrigeration heat exchanger of the dewaxing section, leading to the entry of ammonia liquid into the solvent system.Based on the analysis results, after switching the ammonia refrigeration heat exchanger for four days, the color of the base oil returned to normal.Upon inspection of the replaced am-monia refrigeration heat exchanger,it was confirmed that corrosion-induced internal leakage had occurred in the tube pass of the heat exchanger.
