Study on Effects of Binary Emulsifier on the Emulsion Properties of the Semi-Synthetic Cutting Fluids
In this paper, the effects of the binary emulsifier of the polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate(Tween 80)and alcohol ethoxylate on the emulsion properties of the semi-synthetic cutting fluids were studied. The particle size analy-zer,surface tension instrument and foam meter were used to characterize the particle size, surface tension and foam height of diluent with at different(hydrophile-lipophile)balance(HLB)value before and after storage for 168 h at 60 ℃.The experimental results show that when the HLB value is 13.0,the diluent of semi-synthetic cutting fluid shows the best emulsion stability. When the HLB value is 13.0~13.5,the surface tension of both new diluent and aging fluid rea-ches a maximum, and the surface tension of the former is larger than that of the latter. The foam volume of both new dil-uent and aging fluid increases firstly and decreases later with increase of the HLB value, and it reaches a maximum when the HLB value is 13.5~14.5.
