Belt and Road cooperation has been welcomed across the world.Yet it faces increasing security challenges imposed by the resurgence of competition between China and the United States in recent years.The politicization of economic issues,ideologization of technological issues,weaponization of cultural exchange issues and stigmatization of pandemic-related issues are the primary risks jeopardizing the development of the BRI.To address the security challenges,it is essential to stay committed to the global vision and practice of common development,build the 21st Century Digital Silk Road,deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges within the BRI framework,create a new international discourse for the BRI and properly handle the negative impact of major-country competition on the Belt and Road ini6ative.As Belt and Road cooperation has notable implications for China-US relations,it is imperative to facilitate substantive US participation in the BRI through appropriate means to foster space for common interests.
