Group breakthroughs in biotechnology based on life science continue to emerge,becoming the commanding heights of a new round of sci-tech revolution and a new engine of industrial change after information technology.With the in-depth development of life science,bio-manufacturing will promote the green production of bio-based materials,food,pharmaceutical chemicals,bio-energy and many other fields.Although starting late,China's bio-manufacturing industry has developed rapidly in recent years,and has achieved market advantages of some bulk chemicals featuring low cost and large-scale production.It has also made substantial progress in creating new routes of bioeconomy and promoting technological upgrading of traditional chemical industry.At the same time,there also exists the problem of high external dependence on some raw materials and key products as well as core technologies,and domestic bio-manufacturing startups still need to strengthen the layout and thinking of the whole industrial chain so as to enhance their core competitiveness.The third-generation bio-manufacturing technology using carbon dioxide(CO2)as raw materials is expected to reshape the manufacturing industry system,and has great strategic significance for China's cultivation and development of new quality productive forces,promoting new industrialization,and accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.In the future,China should focus on the three directions of improving the ability of independent innovation,ensuring the ability to support the industry,and making breakthroughs in the core technologies of key strategic products to accelerate the high-level development of bio-manufacturing.
