Review of Tesla Turbine Technology Research Progress
To further explore the application potential of Tesla turbine,this paper presented a compre-hensive review of Tesla turbine related research in four aspects:mechanism research,optimization de-sign,application research and performance research.Firstly,the flow mechanism of Tesla turbine and the main mathematical models for flow field distribution and efficiency prediction were summarized.Then,the optimization design research carried out by the researchers was reviewed,and it was pointed out that future research should focus on the number of nozzles,the surface roughness of the rotor,and the coupling optimization of the nozzle and rotor.Finally,the main application areas of Tesla turbines were summarized,including waste heat recovery,energy harvesting,and organic Rankine cycle.Performance studies have shown that the maximum experimental efficiency of Tesla turbine is between 20%and 30%,while the simulation efficiency is between 50%and 70%,and the output power is mainly concentrated in the low power range.
