Numerical Study on Heat Storage Characteristics of High Temperature Solid Particle Packed Bed
To find out the influence of physical properties of the filling material and heat storage tempera-ture on the packed bed heat storage system,the convective heat transfer process between gas and solid phases in a high temperature solid particle packed bed was numerically analyzed by using local non-ther-mal equilibrium model.The effects of different particle materials such as rock,Al2O3 and SiC at different heat storage temperatures of 600 K,900 K and 1 200 K on the temperature distribution in the packed bed,air pressure loss,heat charging efficiency,heat discharging power and cycle exergy efficiency in the heat storage and release process were analyzed.The simulation results show that the heat storage capaci-ty,heat charging efficiency and cyclic exergy efficiency of SiC particle packed bed are all the highest due to the largest volumetric specific heat capacity of SiC.Besides,the heat charging efficiency is increased by about 2%and 3%,the heat discharging power is doubled and increased by two times,and the exergy efficiency is increased by 17%-22%and 24%-32%,when the heat storage temperature is increased from 600 K to 900 K and 1 200 K,respectively.
