Analysis of Windage and Drag Reduction of High Speed Double Helical Gear Transmission System
In order to reduce the windage loss of the double helical gear transmission system, based on the dynamic mesh technology, the air hydrodynamic model inside the double helical gear transmission system was established, and air flow characteristics inside gearbox were simulated and analyzed. The in-fluences of gear speed, the distance from windscreen and baffle in drag reduction structure to the adden-dum circle, the range of gear covered by the windscreen and the grease trap on the wind resistance power loss of the gear surface were investigated. The results show that the main reason for the windage loss is the pressure difference moment on the tooth surface caused by the alternating wind pressure load during the process of gear teeth from biting in to biting out;the wind resistance power is positively correlated with the third power of gear speed;the distance from windscreen and baffle to addendum circle has little effect on the total wind resistance power of the gear pair;increasing the range of gear covered by wind-screen and bottom grease trap can effectively reduce the river basin around the gear pair and reduce the total windage power loss.
