Effect of End wall Profiling of Guide Vane Trailing Edge on the Sealing Effectiveness of Rim Seal
The effect of lower endwall profiling of guide vane trailing edge on sealing effectiveness of rim seal and aerodynamic performance of turbine main flow was numerically investigated using 3D unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(URANS)equations and SST turbulent model. The sealing effective-ness of rim seal and aerodynamic performance of turbine stage were compared among five kinds of endwall profilings of guide vane trailing edge. The results show that the turbine stage efficiency can be reduced when the guide vane tailing edge concave and convex endwall amplitudes are large. The turbine stage ef-ficiency is reduced by 0.377%for the concave endwall and 0.103%for the convex endwall when the amplitude is 10%blade height. The endwall profiling of vane trailing edge will affect the sealing effec-tiveness of rim seal by changing the flow pattern near the stator-rotor clearance. The convex endwall re-duces the radial component velocity of main flow near the stator-rotor clearance, resulting in increased gas ingestion, when cold air mass flow ratio(MFR)is 0.3%,the sealing effectiveness is 0.13 lower than that without the axisymmetric endwall. The concave endwall increases the radial component velocity of main flow near the stator-rotor clearance, resulting in reduced gas ingestion, when MFR is 0.3%,the sealing effectiveness is 0.2 higher than that without the axisymmetric endwall.
