With the rapid development of aerospace technology, the operating temperature of hot-end components of aircraft is becoming increasingly higher.YSZ thermal barrier coatings can no longer meet the service requirements of current aircraft engine hot-end components.Gd2O3-Yb2O3-Y2O3 co-stabilized zirconia(GYYZO),obtained by doping YSZ with rare earth elements gadolinium(Gd)and ytterbium(Yb),is widely considered to have broad application prospects in ultra-high temperature conditions. In this research, two types of spherical GYYZO powders were synthesized using solid-state reaction and chemical precipitation methods respectively, and two variants of GYYZO ceramic thermal barrier coatings were fabricated through the atmospheric plasma spraying technique. The effects of powder preparation process on powder structure and coating structure and properties were studied. The results show that under the same plasma spraying technique, the coating prepared by chemical co-precipitate synthesis of GYYZO powder has higher top layer porosity, and the coating has better thermal shock resistance than the coating prepared by solid reaction synthesis of GYYZO powder.
