The common values of all mankind are of great significance in effectively resolving the various real-life contradictions and conflicts among mankind,promoting solidarity and cooperation among countries and jointly building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.International human rights concepts and norms are important expressions of the common values of all mankind.China's active advocacy and interpretation of the common values of all mankind,such as peace,development,equality,justice,democracy and freedom,have not only given them more specific and enriched characters in the field of international human rights,but also promoted the healthy development of global human rights governance.China has actively advocated and interpreted the common values of all mankind in the United Nations and its human rights bodies in three main ways:first,Chinese leaders and representatives of Chinese government to the United Nations human rights bodies,under the guidance of the common values of all mankind,have made their voice heard in the United Nations,its human rights bodies and conferences,expounding their views and propositions on human rights affairs.Second,the Chinese delegation have put forward or supported human rights proposals embodying the common values of all mankind at United Nations meetings for discussion,consultation and formation of resolutions by member States,so that the United Nations human rights resolutions can better reflect and safeguard the common values of all mankind.Third,China has participated in the formulation of,and voted for,human rights declarations and conventions that embody the common values of all mankind,so that those values can become binding international norms in the form of human rights declarations and conventions.In the process of advocating and interpreting the common values of all mankind in the field of international human rights,China has played four main roles:first,an active advocate who positively publicizes the common values of all mankind in the United Nations and its human rights bodies and insists on resolving contradictions and conflicts and promoting solidarity and cooperation on the basis of the common values of all mankind.Second,a steadfast defender who criticizes and condemns the claims and acts that violate the common values of all mankind in the international community,and demands timely correction as well.Third,an expounder who proposes the specific contents and requirements of the common values of all mankind in a variety of relevant contexts,so as to enrich the connotations of those common values.Fourth,a consensus-builder who actively participates in and supports the passing and adoption of relevant human rights conventions,declarations and resolutions in the United Nations and its human rights bodies,so as to forge a consensus on values and norms.China's advocacy and interpretation of the common values of all mankind have been widely responded to by the international community.More and more draft resolutions proposed by China have been adopted by the United Nations and its human rights bodies,and many ideas put forward and supported by China have been incorporated into United Nations human rights conventions,declarations and resolutions.
