Abstract
In Japanese palaeography,Okugaki(or Okusho)refers to the colophon hand-written on the left side at the end of a paper document.Okugaki in ancient kanbun manuscripts were often written by the scribe, the collector,or the owner of the manuscript, recording the time, location, people, and contexts that were related to its writing and reading.Okugaki are an important form of evidence for examining the origin, inheritance, and literary value of manuscripts. They contain rich historical information about the cultural exchanges between China and Japan and therefore, should be investigated carefully.
