Preparation of natural menthol modified polyacrylate anti-bacte-rial adhesive agent and its application on cotton fabric
The natural small molecule menthol(MT)with three-dimensional anti bacterial adhesion function was grafted onto acrylic anhydride(AC)by esterification.A new type of polyacrylate copolymer[P(MAC-co-AA)]containing MT anti-bacterial adhesion side chains was synthesized. Then the cotton fabric was treated by dipping and padding meth-od,which imparted the cotton fabric with excellent anti-bacterial adhesion effect. The results showed that when the molar ratio of MT and AC was 2∶1,the reaction temperature was 70℃,and the reaction time was 5 h,the esterification rate of P(MAC-co-AA)reached up to 70.9%.It had the best anti-bacterial adhesion effect on E.coli and S.aureus.Compared with MT,the maximum decomposition temperature of P(MAC-co-AA)increased from 130℃ to 252℃,and its thermal stability was greatly improved. When the concentration of P(MAC-co-AA)solution was 20 g/L,the anti-bacterial adhesion rate of cotton fabric finished by P(MAC-co-AA)to E.coli and S.aureus arrived at 99.9%.
