Synthesis and properties of durable cationic polyester polyether hydrophilic finishing agent
Using dimethyl terephthalate(DMT),ethylene glycol(EG),polyethylene glycol(PEG)and n-butyl trihy-droxyethyl ammonium bromide(NTAB)as raw materials,a series of quaternized triethanolamine polyester polyether(CPP)hydrophilic finishing agents with different structures were successfully prepared through transesterification and polyconden-sation reactions. The influence of PEG molecular weight and molar ratio on hydrophilicity, washable resistance and antistat-ic property of polyester fabric was investigated, and the optimal synthetic process for CPP hydrophilic finishing agent was determined.Their performance is compared with commercially available counterparts to assess their application potential. The results show that the optimal synthesis conditions of CPP finishing agent are as follows:PEG relative molecular mass 2 000,the molar ratio of DMT to PEG 3∶1,the molar ratio of PEG to NTAB 1.0∶0.2.The wetting time of the finished poly-ester fabric can be reduced to as low as 2.89 s,which is 50%higher than that of the original fabric. The capillary rise height after 30 min can reach 17.3 cm,which is 57%higher than that of the original fabric.Additionally, the static voltage half-life up can reach 2.7 s.After washing 20 times, the capillary effect retention rate of CPP finished polyester fabric is over 95%,and its comprehensive performance was better than that of common hydrophilic finishing agents.
