Effect of modified sodium alginate on printing effect of pigment/PUA on cotton fabric
Sodium alginate was used as raw material to prepare modified sodium alginate(SA-X)through Ugi reac-tion,and UV curable printing paste was prepared with pigment dispersion and UV curable polyurethane acrylic ester(PUA)lotion. The printing was carried out on cotton fabrics using screen printing techniques. The effects of SA-X on print-ing performance were evaluated by assessing viscosity, fineness, contact angle, colorimetric properties, and fastness. The re-sults indicated that SA-X could increase the viscosity of printing paste, and enhance the accuracy and coloring depth of fabric printing.Due to the introduction of hydrophobic structures in SA-X molecules, the hydrophobicity of printed fabrics was enhanced. In addition, with the increasing dosage of SA-X,the color fastness of printed fabrics was significantly im-proved,indicating that SA-X could participate in the curing reaction of PUA,improve the integrity of film formation, and form better coating of pigments on printed fabrics.
