The Liminality and Social Potential of Art Museum Space
Under the reality of the continuous liminality of public space and the absence of public life in cyber cities,this paper takes the liminality theory as the framework to review the evolution process of art museums from"time suspension"to"space liminality"and their corresponding social potential,and takes three dynamic art museums as examples to analyze their liminal characteristics between"structure/anti-structure"and"publicness/privateness".The core of the design is"weakening the existence of material space to release new social possibilities".
