The Transfer of"Qi Yun"and the Generation of"Rhythm":On the aesthetic evolution of Okakura Tenshin towards Laurence Binyon and Roger Fry
This article focuses on the modern transformation of Qi Yun aesthetics in the early 20th century,with a particular emphasis on the theoretical journey from Okakura Tenshin to Binyon and Roger Fry.Binyon continued Okakura Tenshin's interpretive approach of translating"Qi Yun"through"rhythm",and through the vivid image of"dance",he elucidated the aesthetic dimensions of life and form,as well as the temporal and spatial attributes of the art that"Qi Yun/rhythm"is integrated into.Roger Fry further utilized the"rhythm"as a lever in the wave of art globalization,cleverly utilizing the interaction between various types of art and regional art,shaking the dominant position of the Renaissance art tradition,and promoting the rise of high modernism.
