Artefactual Landscapes,Knowledge Practices,Empowering Spaces:A study of Developmental Changes Based on European"Embroidery Samples"
Embroidery samples, which are specially made by traditional European women to record their personal stitches, patterns, and techniques, have a long history,a rich variety of shapes, and a wide range of contents. In this paper,we take European women's domestic handicraft art as a research object, and analyse the women's space formed with embroidery as the core by explaining the morphological characteristics and historical development of"embroidery samples",and the three transformations of their role, form and function in the development. It not only shows that women's embroidery activities in the traditional creation process can be interpreted as a cognitive process of"things",but also shows that women's embroidery activities can be interpreted as a cognitive process of"things".It also highlights the self-awakening and role transformation of women in the historical changes, provides a precious visual text for the discussion of their life, education and power space, and provides more historical understanding of how women construct their own subject value in the broad social economy and civilization process. It is of great significance to promote the development of handicraft and the study of the history of female creation.
