Research on the Design of Serious Games for Cultural Heritage Education
In recent years, serious games have gained increasing attention in the field of cultural heritage due to their dual characteristics of educational and entertainment value.By providing engaging gameplay experiences, serious games can promote the preservation and revitalization of cultural heritage. This study leverages the procedural rhetoric theory of renowned media scholar, author, and game designer Ian Bogost, and integrates the cultural heritage education game design framework developed by Daniel Camuñas-García and his colleagues. We propose a dual-helix model for designing serious games that cater to multiple edu-cational objectives, including moral, intellectual, and aesthetic education in cultural heritage.Using the cultural heritage education of Xiannong Altar in Beijing as a case study,we designed a serious game prototype called"Xiannong Dreamscape"based on this model. The study validated the proposed model's generalizability and effectiveness, further demonstrating the potential of serious games as influential educational tools.
