Cosplay:Image Generation and Cultural Motivation of French Chinoiserie Masquerade
Taking the flourishing of French"Chinese-themed"masquerade fashion in Europe from the 17th to the 19th century as the background,this paper uses interdisciplinary methods such as iconography communication studies,and material culture history,to explore the phenomenon of"Chinese elements"spreading from the court to the emerging class through the"Two fold-Evidence Method"of image and text references and mutual evidence.Then analyse the generation pattern of chinoiserie images,which are a combination of East and West,and reveal its cultural motivation:as"Chinese-Cosplay"rapidly becomes the fashionable paradigm of European social life,it also influences people's lifestyles and artistic concepts to a certain extent,thus accelerating the emergence and fer-mentation of the"Chinoiserie".
