Full length transcriptome analysis of Agropyron mongolicum and identification of hydroxylase genes involved in lignin synthesis and drought response
Agropyron mongolicum is a high-quality forage widely distributed in the desert grassland areas of northern China. It has strong tolerance to environmental stresses such as cold, drought, and salinity, and has high ecological, economic, and breeding value. However, the lack of genomic and transcriptome data information on Agropyron mongolicum severely limits its molecular breeding and utiliza-tion.This study utilized the PacBio third-generation sequencing platform to sequence Agropyron mongolicum and obtained high-quality full-length transcriptome information. The assembly of sequencing results obtained 267 560 full-length transcripts, from which 91 855 Unigenes were obtained and 83125 of them were annotated.Furthermore,we identified hydroxylase genes that may be involved in lignin synthesis from the obtained full-length transcriptome of Agropyron mongolicum.Research on the expression patterns of these genes in dif-ferent tissues and under drought stress suggests that these genes may play important roles in lignin synthesis and drought stress response. Our study obtained high-quality full-length transcriptome resources of Agropyron mongolicum, benefiting the screening of gene resources for molecular breeding from Agropyron mongolicum.
