Effects of drought degree on sexual reproduction index and seed yield of Arthraxon hispidus
In order to study the development and utilization potential of Arthraxon hispidus, which as a local turfgrass germplasm re-sources,the A.hispidus seedlings were treated under 4 drought degrees(sufficient water, mild, moderate, and severe drought)individ-ually.By measured indicators such as flower period, flowers number, seeds number and biomass,to analyzed the effects of drought on the reproductive allocation, reproductive index, reproductive efficiency, and seed yield of A.hispidus.The results showed that:Drought de-grees significantly affected the reproductive period and the number of reproductive organs.Severe drought leaded flowering 18 days earlier, while mild and moderate drought increased the number of flower spikes and small flowers;Drought degrees significantly affected the biomass structure, with an impact of total biomass>non reproductive organ biomass>reproductive organ biomass.Drought limited total and non re-productive organ biomass, but mild and moderate drought increased reproductive organ biomass;Drought significantly affected reproductive indicators, which as reproductive ratio>reproductive efficiency index>reproductive index>reproductive allocation.Mild and moderate drought significantly improved the reproductive indicators;Drought significantly affected seed yield, with actual seed yield>potential seed yield>performance seed yield.Light, medium, and severe droughts caused actual seed yield to decreased by 14.02%,29.07%,and 55.54%,respectively;Effect of drought on germination indicators was as follows:seed germination rate>germination potential>germina-tion index>vitality index, but only reduced germination rate and germination potential. In summary, drought degrees significantly affectd the sexual reproduction index and seed yield of the A.hispidus.According to drought degrees,A.hispidus could adjust reproductive inputs and maintain reproductive benefits,to laying a seed foundation for self sowing and population renewal of slope protection lawns.
