Study on the introduction and cultivation of Melilotus spp. in alpine regions
Melilotus spp.is an annual or biennial leguminous herbaceous plant,which is widely distributed in China,whole grass is used as medicine and is a high-quality forage grass with drought-resistance,salt alkali resistance,barren tolerance,and high crude pro-tein content.It can also be used as green fertilizer,honey source,and spice.Meanwhile,it is an important rotational forage grass and has high ecological and economic values in alpine regions.This manuscript reviews the research progress on the biological characteristics,bio-active components,genetic diversity,ecological value,economic value,introduction,and cultivation of Melilotus spp.in alpine regions,in order to provide theoretical basis for the development and utilization of rhinoceros and its introduction and cultivation in alpine regions.
