Suggestion on exploiting protein resources from xylophagous insects
This paper reviews the research progress on xylophagous insects in the field of lignocellulose degradation,proposing that xy-lophagous insects which can convert non-grain lignocellulosic biomass such as straw,forage,woody feed,and agricultural and forest resi-dues into valuable protein resources could serve as"biological protein factories"in the future.This project could achieve protein substitu-tion and ensure national food security.
