An investigation of the avifauna and diversity of birds was implemented in the eastern farming area of Anyang in Henan province from July 2009 to August 2011, a total of 109 species of birds were recorded, which belonged to 13 orders and 33 families. Of them 30 species were resident birds (28.4% ), 33 were summer visitors (30.3%), 8 were winter visitors (6.4% ), and 38 were travelers (34.9% ). Three habitats were recorded during the field work, e. g. village and farmland, woodland and fruit gardens, river and ponds. The results showed that most birds were found in the habitat of village and farmland, then woodland and fruit garden, while river and ponds with a few species. Based on the results, suggestions are offered for the protection the avifauna in the eastern fanning area of Anyang.
