The Community Organization and Concentration of Soil Animals in Heavy Metal Polluted Areas: A Case of the Farmland Around Linfen Iron-works in Shanxi Province
Community organization and concentration oi soil animals in heavy metal polluted area around Linfen iron-works in Shanxi province was investigated in this study. The soil animals in 28 sites of farmland around Lingang were investigated by hand picking method and tullgren method. A total of 2348 individuals of soil animal, including 4 phyla and 11 classes, were obtained, Prostigmata was the dominant species, and 16 kinds of them were common species and 12 were rare. The heavy metal comprehensive pollution index was higher in the soil samples with alkalescence and medium fertility. The results of statistical analysis showed that: (1 ) the relationship between soil animals and soil physical and chemical properties was not significant (P>0.05); (2) the species and quantity of soil animals were decreased along with the increasing of pollution index; additionally, the surface aggregation of soil animals would be decreased or even appeared contrary vertical distribution in heavily polluted soil; (3) the content of heavy metal in earthworms and other Isopoda would increase along with the increasing of the concentration of heavy metals in soil. And the concentration coefficients of 6 kinds of heavy metal element in earthworms was Ni > Mn > Cu > Pb = Cr > Zn, while in Isopoda were Cu > Mn > Pb > Zn > Ni = Cr.
