Research Progress of Ungulate Reproduction and Its Influencing Factors
Reproduction contributes to the genetic material transferring and population continuation of ungulates,and is manifested in the mating system,reproductive strategy,rearing behavior and other related aspects.Reproduction diversity of ungulates reflects the adaptation of ungulates to the environment.Earlier and more recent studies have shown that ungu-late reproduction can be influenced by nutritional(energy,protein,trace elements and vitamins),environmental(photope-riod,temperature and humidity)and management factors(transportation and various medical treatments).How to reduce the impact of adverse environmental factors on ungulate reproduction has also received more and more attention.This paper summarized the mating system,reproductive strategy and rearing behavior of ungulates,and the factors affecting the repro-duction of ungulates under artificial feeding condition were emphatically stressed,in order to provide a basis for further re-search,to reduce the adverse effects of unfavorable factors on ungulate reproduction,and to improve the economic benefits of ungulate breeding.
