Preparation of MnOx particles and the adsorption on Congo Red
Manganese oxides are important transition metal oxides that have a wide range of applications in catalysis, electrochemistry, ion exchange and adsorption due to their special tunneling and lamellar crystal structures. In this paper,a series of manganese oxide particles with different crystalline shapes and morpholo-gies were prepared by hydrothermal reaction. The morphology and structure of the materials were analysed by XRD,FT-IR and SEM,and their adsorption onto Congo Red was systematically investigated by UV-vis.The experimental results showed that when the pH of the reaction system is ≈ 10,MnOx particles were capable of synthesizing porous rod-shaped structures, uniform size and nearly spherical honeycomb-like po-rous structure could be synthesized, which had the best adsorption effect on Congo Red,with equilibrium ad-sorption capacity qe≈129.11 mg‧g-1 and removal rate R≈64.56%.
