Preparation and performance study of phosphorus-containing polysiloxane flame-retardant coating
In this study, diphenyl phosphite(DP)and vinyltriethoxysilane(VTEO)are employed to craft a phosphorus-containing polysiloxane flame retardant coating, and further imposed to cotton fabric by the sol-gel method. The treated not only substrate maintains its original appearance and color, but also exhibits self-extinguishing behavior with a low damage length(76 mm)after ignition as well as a high limiting oxygen in-dex(27.0%).The mechanism research reveals the flame-retardant role in both the condensed phase and the gas phase. On the one hand, the coating promotes the dehydration and carbonization of substrate and further forms a dense, stable cross-linked char layer.Additionally,it also reduces the release of combustible gases dur-ing the burning processes. Thus, the fire safety performance of substrates is achieved in practical use.
