Optimization of selenium enrichment condition for a Lactobacillus plantarum
The purpose of this study was to investigate the selenium enrichment function of Lactiplantibacil-lus plantarum BM-5 isolated from traditional fermented rice products in Sichuan Province. The optimal sele-nium enrichment conditions were determined by orthogonal experiment as pH 7.0,selenium concentration 30 µg/mL,selenium addition time 12 h and inoculation amount 5%with sodium selenite.Under these condi-tions,the biomass of BM-5 was 1.12 g/L,and the selenium content of BM-5 reached 7362.60 μg/g.Scan-ning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis showed that BM-5 can enrich and reduce selenium and transport some elemental selenium from the bacteria to the surface of the bacteria to form nano-selenium par-ticles,the average diameter of nano-selenium particles was 167.16 nm.This study showed that BM-5 could be prepared into a strain combining selenium enrichment and prebiotics at a low selenium concentration, which had the potential to be used in the production of safe selenium supplements for human.
