Micro Weathering Characteristics and Mechanism of Leshan Giant Buddha Sandstone
In recent years, the Leshan Giant Buddha is facing serious weathering hazards, which brings great difficulties to the protection of the Giant Buddha.Through the comparative analysis of mineral composition, structural characteristics and pore characteristics of sandstone samples at different depths of Leshan Big Buddha, this paper reveals the surface microscopic weathering characteristics of Giant Buddha sandstone, discusses the weathering mechanism of Giant Buddha sandstone, and provides a theoretical basis for the treatment of Giant Buddha's weathering diseases. The results show that the bedrock of Leshan Giant Buddha is composed of Fe-Calcareous medium-fine-grained feldspar quartz sandstone. The main clastic components are quartz, plagioclase and cuttings. The cement is mainly calcareous, followed by iron. The pores in the rock mass are very developed, mainly intergranular pores in the interior and secondary pores in the surface. From the interior of the rock mass(sample b7)to the surface of the rock mass(sample b1),the total amount of debris and cement showed a downward trend, while the porosity increased significantly, and the degree of weathering gradually increased. The microscopic characteristics showed that the maximum depth of weathering of Giant Buddha sandstone was about 40 cm-60 cm.The weathering of Giant Buddha sandstone in Leshan is controlled by internal and external factors:the sandstone formed by aeolian process has developed intergranular pores, and the content of feldspar and calc cement is high, which is conducive to the occurrence of late weathering on the whole. The external factors mainly include water erosion, temperature and humidity change, biological action and other external factors.
