Overview of Research on Underground Coal Gasification(UCG)Technology at Home and Abroad
Underground coal gasification(UCG)technology injects gasification agents into underground coal seams to generate synthetic gas for energy or chemical utilization,which has the advantages of high efficiency and low carbon.Summarize the development history,technological progress,application status,challenges faced,and future development directions of UCG technology both domestically and internationally.Abroad,the United States,the Soviet Union and the EU countries have formed a modern UCG technical system through long-term experiments and technical exploration,but they still face challenges such as gasification channel stability and environmental pollution.Domestic UCG technology research started late,but with the support of the national science and technology plan,remarkable progress has been made in the construction of gasification channels and gasification process control in recent years,and a number of demonstration projects have been successfully built.However,the industrialization process of UCG technology still faces challenges such as complex geological conditions,high technical difficulty and large economic input.In the future,it is necessary to increase investment in technological innovation and research and development,promote demonstration projects and commercial applications,strengthen international cooperation and exchanges,and pay attention to environmental protection and ecological security,in order to achieve the sustainable development of UCG technology,and provide important support for the energy structure transformation and sustainable development strategy.
