The Relationship Between Online Social Exclusion and Online Prosocial Behavior Among College Students:a Mediated Model with Moderation
In order to explore the relationship between college students'online social exclusion and online prosocial behaviors,as well as the roles of just-world beliefs and self-compassion in this relationship,a questionnaire survey was administered to 600 college students using the Online Social Exclusion Scale,Online Prosocial Behavior Scale,Just-World Beliefs Scale, and Self-Compassion Scale. The results showed that online social exclusion significantly negatively predicted online prosocial behavior,just-world beliefs had a significant mediating effect between online social exclusion and online prosocial behavior, and self-compassion had a significant direct effect and moderating effect on the first half of the path of the model.Accordingly,it is concluded that online social exclusion can not only directly predict college students'online prosocial behaviors, but also form a moderated mediation path to predict college students'online prosocial behaviors through just world beliefs and self-compassion.Therefore,institutions of higher education should not only pay attention to the negative effects of online social exclusion, but also focus on cultivating college students'just-world beliefs and improving their levels of self-compassion to foster online prosocial behavior.
