Membrane Fouling Mitigation Effect of Biochar Filtration on Biogas Slurry Ultrafiltration Membrane Separation
In this paper, pig manure biochar filtration was used for pretreatment, and the effect of pig manure biochar filtration on membrane flux during biogas ultrafiltration was investigated. At the same time, its effects on the basic water quality index of the permeate, the surface morphology of the ultrafiltration membrane and the composition of membrane pollutants were monitored and analyzed. The results indicate that the membrane flux of the biological pretreatment group is 12% higher than that of the control group.Pig manure charcoal filtration lead to the removal of 21.64% of suspended solids. When pig manure charcoal and ultrafiltration membranes are combined, removal rates of suspended solids,COD,ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and total organic carbon in the membrane permeate are enhanced, with values of 28.49%,17.71%,18.26%,24.97%,13.53%,and a suspended solids concentration of 62.76 mg/L.The scanning electron microscope shows that the dirt on the surface of the fouling membrane is rough and loose, while the filter cake layer on the surface of the fouling membrane in the control group is denser. The UV254 value and TOC concentration of the fouled membrane cleaning solution in the control group are higher than those in the biochar pretreatment group, and the inorganic ion concentration in the control group is also higher than that in the pretreatment group. The results show that the pretreatment of pig manure biochar adsorption intercepts the pollutants in biogas slurry and the effect of biochar particles on the structure and composition of membrane pollutants, which effectively slows down the occurrence of membrane fouling in the process of biogas slurry ultrafiltration membrane separation.
