Study on the Coupling and Coordination Relationship Between the Design Industry and Urban Development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Urban Agglomeration
This paper investigates the spatial and temporal differentiation characteristics of the coupling and coordination between the design industry and urban development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration from 2011 to 2020,using methods such as the entropy value method and the coupling coordination degree model. The results show the following:(1)The comprehensive levels of the design industry and urban development exhibit notable phase characteristics, with the design industry showing a fluctuating upward trend while urban development shows a fluctuating downward trend.(2)The coupling effect between the design industry and urban development weakened during the 2011-2020 period, with the coordination degree decreasing from 0.379 to 0.369,remaining in the range of general imbalance. The spatial pattern shows a high centrality with low peripheral values.(3)There is a coexistence of correlations and differences among the subtypes of coupling coordination in the 13 cities, with peripheral cities often being categorized as urbanization lagging types, while design industry lagging types are mainly distributed in Beijing.Severe polarization is observed between the high-value and low-value regions in terms of coupling coordination degrees. The disparity in urban rankings is widening in high-value areas, while in low-value areas, the gaps vary but show an overall trend of narrowing. The conclusions of this study provide a theoretical basis for government agencies when formulating policies to coordinate the development of the design industry and urban growth.
