The Impact of Structural Embedding on Firms'Innovation Performance:A Review and a Prospect
With the rapid changes in the global business environment and the vigorous development of information technology, innovation has become the key to the sustainable competitiveness of enterprises. This paper aims to explore how structural embedding affects enterprise innovation performance, focusing on the three main dimensions of network size, network density, and structural embedding:centrality, structural hole, and geographic proximity.Through a review of the existing literature, this paper finds that the scale and density of the network have an important impact on the position of enterprises in the network, but there arc also risks of resource homogeneity and information blockage. At the same time, centrality, structural holes, and geographical proximity affect innovation performance through different mechanisms.Future research can further explore how digital tools can optimize structural embeddedness to improve innovation performance, and how to enhance structural embedding effect through knowledge management.
