Identification of Regional Differences,Spatial and Temporal Characteristics, and Drivers of Digital Agriculture Development in China
[Objective]To study the level of development of digital agriculture in China, explore the charac-teristics of spatial and temporal distribution, and identify the driving factors, with a view to providing a decision-making basis for realizing the high-quality development of digital agriculture.[Method]Based on the panel data of 31 provinces(cities and districts)in China from 2015-2021,we constructed an evaluation system from four dimensions, namely, digital agriculture infrastructure, digital agriculture development trans-formation,digital agriculture industrialization level, and agriculture digitization level, and analyzed China's digital agriculture development level, regional differences and spatial-temporal characteristics,as well as the identification of the driving factors by using entropy method,Dagum's Gini coefficient and decomposition, standard deviation ellipse, and geographic detector.[Result]①The overall development level of our digital agriculture is on the low side, but during the study period, the overall development level gradually increased, and spatially showed a regional distribution pattern of"high in the east, secondary in the center, and low in the west",with an obvious regional"Matthew effect".②In terms of regional differences,inter-regional differ-ences are the main source of overall differences.③ From the point of view of spatial and temporal characteris-tics,the center of gravity of China's digital agriculture development as a whole presents the characteristics of moving from the northwest to the southeast, the overall development of the discrete small, spatial distribution is more clustered.④ On the identification of driving factors, the level of technological R&D and innovation, the level of regional economic development and the per capital consumption expenditure of rural residents have a significant impact on the development of digital agriculture, and the strength of the impact is higher than other factors.[Conclusion]Based on the conclusions of the study, the article proposes that the joint de-velopment of leading provinces and lagging provinces, the integration of multi-party subjects and the joint cul-tivation of farmers'digital literacy, sharing resources and technologies in the digital infrastructure can help promote China's digital agriculture from a localized"bonsai"to a large-scale"landscape".
