Impact of Internet Use on Physical and Mental Health of Rural Residents:Empirical Analysis Based on CGSS2021 Data
[Objective]This paper aims to investigate the impact of internet use on the physical and men-tal health of rural residents and its mechanism.[Method]Based on the data of the Chinese General So-cial Survey in 2021,the methods of ordered logit,generalized ordered logit,instrumental variables and mediation effect are used for empirical analysis.[Result]Internet use has a significant positive impact on the physical and mental health of rural residents,and the impact of internet use on physical health is greater than that on mental health.The impact of Internet use on the physical and mental health of rural residents is heterogeneous in gender,age,socio-economic status and regional economic level.Internet use has a positive impact on rural residents'physical and mental health by promoting their leisure and en-tertainment,social networks and knowledge acquisition.[Conclusion]It is recommended to improve the popularity and quality of rural Internet,enrich the supply of information terminals and services for ru-ral residents,and improve the digital literacy of rural residents.
