Functional Analysis of the CpMADS47 Gene Regulating Fruit Ripening and Softening in Chinese Cherry
[Objective]This study aims to investigate the biology and role of Chinese cherry CpMADS47 gene during fruit ripening and softening.[Method]The MADS-box gene CpMADS47,which is involved in fruit texture changes in Chinese cherry, was cloned and subjected to bioinformatics analysis.Heterolo-gous transient overexpression of CpMADS47 was performed on strawberry fruits to validate its function.[Result]Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the coding sequence(CDS)of the SEP1/2-like gene CpMADS47 in Chinese cherry consists of 741 base pairs(bp)and encodes a protein of 246 amino acids.Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the CpMADS47 protein exhibits a close evolutionary relationship with MADS proteins from various species within the Rosaceae family.Transient overexpression of straw-berry fruits showed that CpMADS47 mediates fruit ripening and softening by promoting strawberry fruit texture softening, anthocyanin accumulation and ABA biosynthesis.[Conclusion]The CpMADS47 gene promotes fruit ripening and softening, providing a theoretical basis and genetic resource for the genetic improvement of fruit texture quality in Chinese cherry.
